Joe Louis Walker
The living legend returns to the Mercersburg Mansion House stage on Friday Dec. 8
Special guests NAS Trio
JLW -- NPR Music has called Walker “a legendary boundary-pushing icon of modern blues,” and he is already being referred to within the blues world as a living legend. However, at this stage of his life, Walker profoundly shares, “I’d really like to inspire younger musicians to carry on the legacy of blues/roots music. But play, and do it your way. Don’t be afraid to mix it up. There’s no right, or wrong way. Just the way you wanna express yourself. And above all, ENJOY YOURSELF.”
NAS Trio -- Nick Andrew Staver is trenching new roads to be paved with his sound. Ripping the blues from it’s traditional seams and restitching them with the threads of a heart wrenching voice and lyrics, ready to drop the kid gloves anytime and arrive to work with a sledgehammer in tow.
Not only will the stage bear the weight of his songs but also the mass of steel hanging around his neck like a badge of dignity.
The steel guitar, the bronze strings and the sweat from his brow can be equally experienced in every note as his prayer-like breath gravels from lungs to listener.
Behind the steam of his 5th independent release, YOPE (2017), lovingly titled after a childhood nickname, Nick Andrew Staver is touring long and hard to help fill in the gaps for those in need of a blues fix.
And filling in some of his own along the way.
